About Us

About Us

It is well known that the ancient giants were, among other things, connoisseurs of wine. In turning to this hedonistic era, every man discovers within himself pieces of that period, fits them together to form his life story. Inspired by the past and enriched by the progress of the modern age, unprecedented work is being done which leaves track on our senses, especially on our palate.

A young urban winemaker happened to be in this story by pure chance, when he enrolled in the university course in enology in Poreč. He has transferred all his knowledge about this creative and dynamic art to his vineyard and then to his cellar, embarking thus on the adventure filled with challenges. Anyway, the education is not enough, because the goal of the mission is to unlock all the potential of the red soil and adjust a novelty or an untapped feature to the Istrian tradition, culture and agricultural heritage.

It all began in a small vineyard under modest circumstances. We soon started thinking about the preparation of the soil prior to planting, so that we dispose of 5 hectares of vineyard today, which produces young Malvasia, Chardonnay, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon, all eager to see their fruits turn into exquisite pleasure. The young age and the passionate desire to accomplish quality results have produced fine and elegant wines that acquire a special Mediterranean note, yet preserving their original character.

Thanks to good people and constant commitment, a tiny idyll has turned into a success story which represents only the beginning of a far-reaching tradition.

Vision

Vision

Driven by tradition, we are blazing a trail for wine. By cultivating Malvasia, the Goddess of this countryside, we are transforming it into a treasure of new flavours and aromas. Owing to tradition in the vineyard and modern technology in the cellar, this variety reaches its peak, opening up new experiences by every sip.

In exploring the fertile soil of these lands, we have learned that it offers the possibility of survival to those grape varieties which are not common in this area. Chardonnay, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon are grape varieties which fit perfectly in this humble place, providing a delight of flavours. Still unaccustomed to new flavours, these varieties reach beyond the borders of tradition and seduce with their intense flavour and firm structure.

To incorporate foreign features into a familiar environment is both a challenge and a pleasure, since the skills of a producer are at stake here, a producer who, by using his experience and knowledge, brings the distant worlds closer and adjusts them to the standards employed here.

People are slowly beginning to acquire the culture of wine drinking; the producer is the one who sets new habits and standards, who offers something new and unusual.

History

History

The unity of man and nature acts as a stimulus for people to create value deriving from nature the best it can offer. The freshness and the naturalness have stirred man’s imagination to generate what has always been worshipped by gods – the vastness of vineyards and the charming sweetness of grapes.

Throughout history, the inhabitants of these territories have been subjected to various submissions, very often exploited, oppressed and broken with poverty, they sought shelter through imagination in order to satisfy their existential and gourmand needs. They have thus created a drink, whose drops have left a deep imprint on these grounds and on the palates of those who have tasted it. Greek coins were the first to bear witness to the culture of the wine. The Greeks along with the Phoenicians brought the gift of grapevine and made it fall on fertile ground. The cultivation was accepted by the Histri, who started producing excellent wine. The peak was reached with the arrival of the French. These wine wizards transmitted their knowledge and transformed wine in the nectar of delight, turning their experience into the legacy of winemaking.

Wine has always been known as the nectar of the gods, a luxury not affordable to everybody. Winemaking has become an important part of everyday life and every winemaker strives to pour the best part of him into the glass of wine.

Philosophy

Philosophy

Some habits have been passed down through generations; we are only continuing this valuable tradition. Aphrodisiacs, nectars… all of it is only a small portion of a time when each moment was celebrated, when each day was special. Today, the immense desire to unite with nature and with life’s pleasures is slowly being awakened again. We are thus given the chance to take joy in life and to discover nature again, like Gods themselves. We are discovering it through the Wine – the best union between nature and pleasure.

Wine is drunk to alleviate thirst or clean the palate between courses. To derive real delight, the unmatchable needs to be blended in order to create harmony. This region, characterized by differences, gives the possibility of blending a unique gastronomic integrity of the coastal Mediterranean offer with its hinterland. Extraordinary sea fruits are combined with fruits from the fields, orchards and forests of the heartland of Istria. The distinctive odour and flavour of the olive oil is accompanied by a fresh and floral aroma of Malvasia or Chardonnay to make the most of every gourmand experience.

Wine has always brought people together creating a strong link and providing them with a new experience. Wine is both food and medicine – food for true hedonists who take pleasure in every bite, medicine for those who suffer from a fatal delight.

To be an oenologist and a sommelier in one’s own cellar is a huge advantage. The right knowledge and modern technology provide an opportunity to achieve tangible results. However, regardless of education and means, one of the most important elements is the love for wine. We are not talking here about an inherited love, but of a love borne later on. A young winemaker, living in the city centre, has set up a small cellar near the sea and with the help of his family, relatives and close friends he made an impossible dream come true.

The pioneer of the Trapan brand is Bruno Trapan, a young engineer of oenology, who together with his wife Andrea, who is in charge of the marketing management of the Trapan wine brand, and with the help of parents, relatives and friends, achieves visible results and finds his place in the world of wines. The passion and the perseverance have formed a strong bond and showed, through an excellent product, that Trapan wines are a peculiarity of this part of Istria.

Every grape-harvesting, every locality, every idea symbolizes a new start, a new adventure with the aim of raising standards of quality.
